The Guanacaste Blanco (Albizia niopoides) has this name because it looks like the Guanacaste tree (Enterolobium cyclocarpum) that is the Costa Rica’s National Tree. However the main difference between them is that the Guanacaste Blanco has a creamy or yellowish bark with numerous circular craters. This tree is use by the Jabiru (Jabiru mycteria) for building its nests and to care its chicks, so if the tree is protected the Jabiru is protected as well.
